The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I think I understand why a few parents objected to this book being taught at my alma mater. First, the narrative characters are clueless white Americans. Second, this makes the Africans seem far more intelligent than the whites. Third, the Americans are from Georgia. Fourth, while they are in Africa the Civil Rights Movement is taking place in the US. Fifth, there are shocking after more shocking losses.
Still, I really liked it. Well, the last 50 pages droned on, but that is why I gave it 4 not 5 stars.
