How Google Works

A few basics of Search Engine Optimization came up at brunch a couple weekends ago. A few of the key points were that its not just important to have good information, but one has to have good metadata, good incoming links to raise authority, and no nefarious techniques.

When I saw this, I immediate thought of that conversation. (This is more or less a test to see if those people read my blog.)

I had no idea about the number, size, cost, or energy usage of the data centers. WOW. I wonder if this is what Isaac Asimov was talking about.

My god that sounds complicated, and to think results are coming in under a second. Anyway, i knew or read lots of it already before but i never heard that overusing anchor text can be penalized. Overusing where? On my own site or when i try to insert it when commenting on other sites or in articles i write elsewhere?
    Tnx
