How do you pass the time during a flight? What do you bring in your carry-on?
My first flight I made the mistake of just taking a couple books which wasn't nearly enough. At the time I was still speed reading. So I read on the way to JAX, on the plane from JAX to Charlotte, waiting for the plane in Charlotte, and half way to New York, I had finished both books. So I had nothing to do other than feel the pilot trying to find Runway 13.
Now?
- At least two books, as many as four (but that was to London).
- A music player (originally a portable CD player but now an MP3 player).
- A GameBoy
- A camera
I've thought about a personal laptop, but I don't think I really would need one. Work sent me to Chicago last summer. I had my work lappy with me and didn't so much as crack it open for 5 minutes.
In general, I do talk to the people around me whether family or strangers. On the Chcago trip, I talked about the Xbox 360 and PS3 and soon to be Wii with a guy headed there and coming back suggested to a daughter and her mom some of the other universities they might check out on their college finding trip.
