Years ago I ran across a site that pretended to be an AOL technical support page. It was pretty well designed that it matched what one would find at AOL. However it did not belong to AOL, though I never really Identified the owner(s).
Basically this site was a well constructed scam to con users into thinking they needed to provide AOL new credit card information for their account. Reported it to the FTC.
It appears these service scam sites are still in use.
Being on the Internet is like walking into a strip joint. Make sure you have protection (firewall & anti-virus), but also make sure you know what you are doing.
Gotta love runts and giants. Actually, you gotta love the insane amount of caffeine that addled the brains of the ubergeeks that coined the terms.
